Barossa Valley, Australia

Grenache, Shiraz & Mourvèdre

The Mourvèdre grape combined with the bold Barossa Valley were the driving forces behind this purchase of red. A good vineyard and a great bottle. A wine that promised a punch with that earthy gravely undertone that we came to love from many Mediterranean vintages.

The opening was the delight that we had hoped for but far too soon, the full force and spice of the Shiraz took over. We should have planned a dinner of cassoulet rather than white pepper pork but then at 15% alcohol content, it could overpower most meals. Maybe it would be best served with cheese.

Cost: About SGD$45/bottle

Buy Again?: Probably, but not in bulk
